INGREDIENTS USED IN MAKING HEALTHY CHOCOLATE BAR
DATES
Dates are a natural sweetener, packed with essential nutrients such as fiber, vitamins, and minerals. They provide a caramel-like sweetness to the bars without the need for added sugars. It also helps to bind the mixture together. Rich in potassium, magnesium, and iron, dates also offer a quick source of energy, making them perfect for a healthy snack.
ROASTED NUTS
Roasting the nuts enhances their flavor and crunch, adding a delightful texture to the bars. Almonds are a great source of healthy fats, protein, and vitamin E. Walnuts are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are beneficial for heart health. You can use and replace dry fruits of your choice. It adds a variety of flavours, textures, and nutrients to the bliss bites.
OATS
Oats are full of fiber and protein, and even a small quantity can fill up your stomach nicely. They soak up a lot of liquid and, hence, are full of flavor when combined with the right ingredients. I have used rolled oats, but you can use any, that you like. Oats act as a natural binder in the mixture. They help hold the ingredients together, ensuring that the bars maintain their shape. Oats are also a good source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, making them an excellent base for these bars.
COCOA POWDER
Cocoa powder is used to add a rich chocolate flavour to the bliss bites. It contributes a delightful bitterness and enhances the overall taste. By incorporating cocoa powder, these healthy chocolate bars not only taste indulgent but also provide numerous health benefits, making them a perfect snack for any time of the day.
DARK CHOCOLATE
Dark chocolate is used to coat the healthy chocolate bar. Melted dark chocolate is used to further enhance the chocolatey flavor and provide sweetness. It adds creaminess and a velvety texture to the chocolate bars.
EQUIPMENT YOU NEED FOR THE HEALTHY CHOCOLATE BAR
To mix and blend everything together nicely you’ll need a good quality mixer or grinder. I have used the morphy richards blender to blend everything perfectly.
Measuring Cups and Measuring Spoons. are an integral part of any baker’s kitchen and it’s very important to measure ingredients with precision.
A silicone mould to set these chocolate bars.
Skewer to dip these chocolate bars in the dark ch0colate.
TIPS TO MAKE HEALTHY CHOCOLATE BARS
- Roast the Dry fruits- Roasting dry fruits enhances their natural flavors and makes them more enjoyable. So make sure you roast your dry fruits before blending them in the grinder.
- Soak the deseeded dates in hot water for minimum 15 minutes to ensure they blend into a smooth paste later.
- Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave or using a double boiler, gently melt the milk chocolate until it becomes smooth and creamy. Be cautious not to overheat it; chocolate can burn easily. Stir it occasionally while melting.
- You’ll use your palms or hands to shape the mixture into the silicone mould.
- To mix and blend everything together nicely you’ll need a good quality mixer or grinder.
- 20 dates, deseeded
- Hot water, for soaking dates
- 1 cup oats
- ½ cup roasted almonds
- ½ cup roasted walnuts
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp espresso
- 1 cup (175g) dark chocolate, melted
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- In a bowl, add dates and soak them in hot water for 15-20 minutes.
- Take a blender jar, add oats, almonds, walnuts and cocoa powder. Blend everything together until a coarse texture is achieved.
- Now, add soaked dates and espresso in this mixture and blend again until it’s nicely combined.
- Take small portions of the mixture and press them in sections of rectangular silicone tray. Ensure that you press the mixture firmly into each section, shaping it to fit the mould.
- Place the silicone mould in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 30 minutes or until the mixture sets and hold its shape.
- Meanwhile, melt the dark chocolate and oil together in microwave.
- Once set, carefully remove the bars from the silicone mould and dip them in melted dark chocolate and enjoy.
