INGREDIENTS USED IN APPLE PIE FRENCH TOAST
Pav buns
Pav buns are known for their soft and fluffy texture. Using them as the base for your French toast can result in a tender and melt-in-your-mouth experience. When soaked in the cinnamon and egg mixture, they can soak up the flavours, creating a delicious and well-seasoned French toast. The round shape of the buns can add an interesting visual element to your dish.
Brown Sugar
Brown sugar contributes to the texture of the dessert. It dissolves and combines with the apple juices, creating a syrupy sauce that surrounds the apple slices. Sugar helps bind the ingredients. Sugar intensifies and enhances the natural sweetness of the apples, creating a pleasing contrast to their tartness. During cooking, sugar caramelizes, creating a golden-brown crust on the top. This adds a desirable depth of flavour and visual appeal.
Apples
Apples provide the main flavour profile for the dessert. Their natural sweetness, combined with a hint of tartness, creates a well-balanced and satisfying taste. Apples add a pleasant and juicy texture to the dessert. They become tender during cooking. Apples are rich in dietary fibre, particularly pectin, which contributes to the structure of the filling and adds to the overall nutritional value of the dessert. The chunks of apples contribute to the visual appeal of the dish.
Milk
In eggless French toast, milk plays a crucial role in creating a soak mixture that provides flavour, moisture, and a desirable texture without the use of eggs. Milk is essential for adding moisture to the bread slices. Milk helps create a cohesive mixture. You can customize the type of milk based on your dietary preferences. Dairy milk, almond milk, soy milk, or any other plant-based milk can be used as a suitable egg replacement.
Fresh cream
Fresh cream adds a delightful richness and subtle sweetness to the French toast. The creaminess enhances the overall flavour profile, making the dish more enjoyable. This richness helps compensate for the absence of eggs, providing a satisfying mouthfeel. Fresh cream helps balance the consistency of the soak mixture. It adds body to the mixture, preventing it from being too thin and ensuring that the bread absorbs enough liquid for a flavourful and well-cooked French toast.
Custard powder
The aromatic qualities of custard powder can infuse the soak mixture with a delightful fragrance, making your eggless French toast more enticing and appealing. Custard powder often imparts a pale yellow colour to the soak mixture, mimicking the appearance of traditional egg-based French toast. Custard powder contains starch, which acts as a thickening agent when mixed with liquid.
This can give the soak mixture a custard-like consistency, helping it adhere better to the bread slices. Custard powder typically contains vanilla flavouring, which can enhance the overall taste of the French toast soak.
