INGREDIENTS USED TO MAKE RAGI CEREAL IN MICROWAVE
RAGI FLOUR
Ragi flour is a powerhouse of nutrients, making it the perfect base for your cereal. Known for its high fiber content, it aids in digestion and promotes gut health. It’s also rich in essential amino acids, which help in muscle building and repair. The natural earthiness of ragi balances well with sweeter additions like jaggery and cocoa, creating a satisfying and hearty meal. Its fine texture ensures the cereal cooks quickly, making it ideal for a speedy yet nourishing breakfast.
MILK
Using milk instead of water enhances the flavor and gives the cereal a creamy consistency. Whether you prefer dairy or plant-based milk, it blends beautifully with ragi to create a comforting bowl.
JAGGERY
Jaggery not only sweetens the cereal naturally but also adds a hint of caramel-like depth to the flavor. It’s a great alternative to refined sugar, making the dish both delicious and wholesome.
PEANUT BUTTER
Peanut butter is not only delicious but also packed with healthy fats and protein, making it a great addition to keep you fuller for longer. It provides a creamy, rich texture that blends seamlessly into the ragi cereal, enhancing both its flavor and mouthfeel. The nutty, slightly salty taste of peanut butter pairs beautifully with the sweetness of jaggery and the bitterness of cocoa, balancing the overall flavor profile.
COCOA POWDER
A touch of cocoa powder transforms basic ragi cereal into a chocolate-flavored treat. It pairs well with jaggery, balancing the earthy taste of ragi while adding a subtle indulgence.
EQUIPMENT USED FOR MAKING RAGI CEREAL IN MICROWAVE
The kind of equipment you use when you’re baking makes a huge difference to the end result! I would recommend you to use good quality mixing bowls and other equipment so that your marble cookies come out delicious!
To mix all my ingredients together in, I’m using Borosil’s 100% Borosilicate Glass Bowl which makes my baking process totally hassle free!
Not a single day goes in my kitchen when I don’t use a Silicon Spatula, this is the one I recommend. Same goes for my set of Measuring Cups and Measuring Spoons.

TIPS TO MAKE RAGI CEREAL IN MICROWAVE
- When combining the ragi flour, peanut butter, cocoa powder, jaggery powder, and milk, mix thoroughly until it forms a smooth, even dough. You may need to adjust the milk slightly if the dough feels too thick or dry. If it’s too sticky, you can add a little more ragi flour.
- Shape the dough into small, uniform balls. This ensures they cook evenly in the microwave. If the balls are too large, they may not cook properly and may need extra time, so aim for bite-sized balls.
- Parchment paper is key for easy removal of the cereal balls after microwaving. It prevents them from sticking to the plate and helps them maintain their shape.
- Let the cereal balls cool to room temperature before adding them to the milk. This helps them set and firm up, giving them a better texture when mixed with milk.
- The amount of milk added at the end can be adjusted based on how creamy you like your cereal. If you prefer a thicker cereal, use less milk; if you like it more liquid, add more.
