chocolate cake tiramisu

chocolate cake tiramisu

If I say so myself, this chocolate cake tiramisu is the bomb! It is made of all things delicious and when it all comes together, you can’t help but fall in love. This chocolate cake tiramisu has 4 layers.

THE FIRST LAYER OF THE CHOCOLATE CAKE TIRAMISU

The first layer is a chocolate cake. Chocolate cake is definitely a crowd-pleaser that everyone loves. Chocolate cake is the first dessert that I got right when I started baking. It soon became my one of my favorite desserts to bake and continues to remain so. I love baking it because it is so simple and everyone enjoys eating it. You can either use my back to basics chocolate cake recipe to make it ( click here for the recipe) or the easiest eggless chocolate cake ( click here for the recipe)

THE SECOND LAYER OF THE CHOCOLATE CAKE TIRAMISU

The second layer of this chocolate cake tiramisu is the dark chocolate ganache– my favorite part. Use a good quality 70% dark chocolate. Click here for the ganache recipe. The brand I use is called Regal chocolate. It is available in major stores like Modern Bazaar, or you can order it from their Facebook page. It is important that you use good quality chocolate for the ganache as the taste of the ganache totally depends on it.

THE THIRD LAYER OF THE CHOCOLATE CAKE TIRAMISU

Third layer is the lady finger biscuits soaked in coffee. The entire recipe is eggless but these biscuits traditionally have eggs. If you want to make this chocolate cake tiramisu, you can skip this layer and use another thin layer of cake soaked in coffee. Or you can use thick digestive biscuits instead of ladyfingers. For the lady finger biscuits, the most commonly available brand in India is Vicenzovo. You can find them at FoodHall or Modern Bazaar. If you’re in Delhi, you’ll get them at Khan Market or in INA.

THE FOURTH LAYER OF THE CHOCOLATE CAKE TIRAMISU

The fourth and the last layer is a creamy layer of mascarpone cheese, icing/powdered sugar and whipped cream. I use Flanders mascarpone cheese and Amul’s whipping cream, both of which are available at FoodHall and Modern Bazaar.

You can watch the video recipe for this chocolate tiramisu cake on my Instagram!

If you guys love tiramisu as much as I do, this chocolate cake tiramisu is going to become your favorite dessert. I’ve also shared my easy tiramisu recipe on the blog earlier and also the classic tiramisu recipe that I got from the Italian chef at Park Hyatt, Hyd.

4 LAYER CHOCOLATE CAKE TIRAMISU

Save Print
Ingredients
  • 1 8" chocolate cake
  • 1 cup dark chocolate ganache
  • 8-10 lady finger biscuits
  • 1 tsp coffee powder
  • ¼ cup boiling water
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • ½ cup icing/powdered sugar
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • cocoa powder, to dust
Instructions
  1. In a shallow circular dish, place the chocolate cake.
  2. Cover the chocolate cake with a generous layer of dark chocolate ganache.
  3. In another dish, pour boiling water over coffee powder.
  4. Dip the lady finger biscuits into the coffee. The biscuits soak up the liquid very very quickly, so be careful.
  5. Arrange the soaked biscuits on the chocolate ganache.
  6. In a large bowl, beat mascarpone cheese and icing sugar together. Carefully fold in the whipped cream.
  7. Spread the mascarpone mixture on the lady finger biscuits. Dust with cocoa powder on top.
  8. Let the chocolate cake tiramisu set in the fridge for at least one hour.

I made a mixed berry tiramisu for my workshop last week and a frozen mango-coconut tiramisu a few months back. • I shared a work in progress video of this dessert on my stories in the morning and asked you to guess the flavour. Most of you said peanut butter & chocolate. Well, incorrect! It is actually a fig, coffee and chocolate pudding, that I’ll top with my faveee toffee sauce. I was planning to share the recipe on the blog earlier but I loved it SOO much that I’ve decided to save the recipe for my 2nd book hehehe😋. #BakeWithShivesh #chocolate #weekend #flatlay #kitchen #pudding #coffee
  • While I absolutely loveee doing what I do for the freedom it gives me and for letting me do what I truly enjoy doing, I won’t disagree that it comes with its own pressures. The question of whether or not it is a sustainable career option or the pressure of putting out new content every single day and of course the disappointment of falling engagement. But what really keeps me going is my love for baking and styling desserts, your love for my work and the new kitchen hehe❤️❤️. Happy Weekend, you guys! Don’t be hard on yourself, make some dessert and have fun! We all deserve this elegant yuzu panna cotta with red currants in life! So, I’m sharing the link to the recipe in my bio 🔥 #BakeWithShivesh #weekend #dessert #foodstyling #blog #foodblog #saturday #pannacotta
  • All you cereal killers have a reason to rejoice because @kelloggsindia has launched three new flavours of our faveee cornflakes- rose badam, kesar pista badam and thandai badam. Which one would you pick first? I tried the kesar pista first and it's so interesting to taste cornflakes in flavours so close to all our hearts. Happy breakfast, happy me! #getreal
