I hope you’re keeping a track of the blogging tips that I’ve been sharing here. I also hope you’re adopting them in your blogging journeys. You can find the older blogging tip posts in this section. I’d love for you guys to leave your feedback in the comments below.

This week’s blogging tip is very essential and in a way forms a large part of blogging today. Blogging today is all about being interactive. It is also being active on different social media platforms. A lot of times, we tend to ignore the ‘social’ aspect of social media and keep sharing our own content. It is not a one way street. While creating and posting content is and should be the most, most important part of blogging, you have to be social.

When I say be social and be interactive, I’m talking about two kinds of interactions

  • with your readers– Every time I read comments that my readers leave on my pictures and blog posts, I experience a certain gratitude that is difficult to put into words. It really amazes me to see how there are some people who would take out some time almost everyday to leave me a comment and honestly, that means the world to me- that is why I do what I do. Now, being grateful is one thing but the other and more important thing is to reciprocate that love and that time. I make it a point to try and respond to all the comments I get to let my readers know that I value their feedback and time. This also gives them an incentive to come back and interact more because they know someone is listening to them. It helps you build a community of loyal readers around your page- something that is invaluable for a blogger.
  • with other bloggers- What I love the most about being in the blogging space is that there are so many talented creative people from all over the world that work in the same space. Interacting with other bloggers helps you build relations and also share thoughts and ideas.

Being interactive is one very essential way to grow and increase the base of your readers. Allot some time to leaving comments on other blogger’s pictures- appreciate their work if you think what they’re doing is great. Make sure to respond to comments that come your way-both on social media and your website. This is also a great way to analyse what your readers are responding to and what they’d like to see on the blog. Collect this feedback and work on it.

Another way to increase engagement on your page besides leaving and responding comments is to write engaging captions. Encourage your readers to leave comments by asking for their ideas/feedback/ opinions. Ask them what they like and what they don’t like. I ask my readers about what they’re planning to bake over the weekend, where they’re travelling to next or something as small as what they had for breakfast. This is something I love doing- interacting and engaging with my readers make me feel like my Instagram/ blog comes to life.

So make sure you don’t log into your blog or social media only to post your own content. If you want to build a community around your work- ENGAGE and INTERACT!

Happy Blogging!
