10 must have baking tools

When you are just starting out, it is hard to decide what all tools you should buy and will need. This article will help you organize your baking needs and understand the type of tools that can make your life easier. Sharing my 10 must have baking tools which I got from Amazon and they are super useful and affordable.

I have one more video on my Youtube channel which talks about  must have tools  for every baker that you can buy from Amazon. Make sure to check out that video too so that you do not miss out on any important information.

Basic baking tools

Mixing bowls

Alright let’s start with the ultimate basics. While making anything, you need a mixing bowl. I love using glass mixing bowls and the ones I use are from Borosil. Let’s be honest plastic bowls do not look as pretty and they are always more tough to clean because of how grease from butter and chocolate sticks to them. These bowls look great in videos too! So if you are ever planning on making dessert videos, glass mixing bowls will definitely come handy.

Measuring cups

Another tool you absolutely need are measuring cups and spoons. They make life so much easier and you can follow any recipe found online since all measurements are written in cups and or grams. I particularly like these stainless steel ones from Dynore. If you check online on amazon, Dynore actually has three different styles available for this pack. You can pick any you like!

Oven Appropriate baking tools

Next up we have parchment paper. Now these two brands Oddy and Kitchenette are what I use in my kitchen. You want to make sure you are getting the rolls that say ‘’baking and cooking parchment paper’’. Both brands make food wrapping paper but that cannot be used for baking so do not get confused. Parchment paper is essential to line your cake pans, loaf pans, brownie pans, to line cookie trays, and for various baking hacks like making chocolate garnishes, or DIY cupcake liners.

Next on the list are these cupcake liners. I am so happy that I found these on amazon because the only kind of cupcake liners I love are the ones that are plain and white. For some reason you can only find funky printed cupcake liners online but these are perfect! This is the standard size so it should work for all cupcake and muffin trays.

The most suitable cupcake tray for home baking is this one! It has 6 cavities, it is non-stick and made of food grade carbon steel. This means you can use the tray without cupcake liners and just lightly grease them to make savory appetizers like mini quiches. So it ticks all the boxes.

Additional must have baking tools

When you are lining pans with butter and or oil, to make life easier, you need to do it with a pastry brush. A pastry brush is great for making sure you are soaking your cake sponges evenly with sugar syrup to keep them moist. They are essential for spreading milk wash or egg wash on desserts that need a golden shine. It’s also super useful for spreading thin layers of batter for when you are making something like crepes. So really, I love all of my pastry brushes and this one is a good place to start.

Pretty sure you already have a small sized sieve at home but when you are making desserts, especially eggless desserts, you need to sieve through your dry ingredients. This is when this large sieve will come in handy. Trying to sirve dry ingredients through the small sized ones takes way too much time!

I absolutely love using citrus fruits in my desserts and this handy zester helps me do just that! Whenever a recipe calls for lemon zest or orange zest, you need a sharp zester that will make sure you get all the flavors from the zest and make sure dessert is a flavor bomb. You can even use a zester to very finely grate some chocolate for dessert toppings.

A sharp knife is an essential in any kitchen. I have wanted to buy a new bread knife for quite some time and I am very happy with this one. It is from Solimo. It’s a stainless steel knife, not too big and not too small. Bread knives are great because they have serrated edges which are absolutely perfect for cutting into cakes, loaves, and pastry items like croissants. The serrated bread knife ensures you cut through the dessert without creating a lot of crumbs.

Alright the last one on the list is piping bags and piping tips. Piping bags that I use are these ones from Happy Chef. These are available in small/ medium/ and large sizes. In my kitchen, we mostly end up using the large size. But you can see which size would best suit your work. One thing to note here is that if you are buying these from amazon, you cannot just buy one pack. They have a minimum order quantity of 3 packs. Some other brands like Bulfyss sell single packets also but there is a price difference.

So these were 10 tools that I love using in my kitchen on a daily basis. You can get your hands on the same ones by checking out the links in the description box below. Happy Shopping and happy baking!
