My favourite easy and quick winter indulgence will always be this mug brownie. It’s the kind of recipe I turn to when the weather gets cold, the cravings hit suddenly, and I want something homemade without any planning. Everything comes together in just a few minutes—melting the butter and chocolate until they’re silky, whisking in the yogurt for that perfect softness, and folding in the dry ingredients to make the smoothest brownie batter.
The best part is how it transforms in the microwave. In under two minutes, you get a warm, fudgy brownie with molten chocolate callets sitting right on top. It’s rich, comforting and has that just-baked aroma that fills the room instantly. This is the dessert I rely on when I want something cosy, chocolatey, and satisfying without going through the whole baking process. It’s my winter favourite because it feels like a hug in a mug and always turns out perfect, no matter how rushed the day is.

INGREDIENTS REQUIRED TO MAKE EGGLESS MUG BROWNIE
Butter
It forms the base of the brownie, giving it that rich, luxurious mouthfeel that instantly makes the dessert taste more indulgent. When it melts with the chocolate, it creates a silky mixture that sets the tone for a fudgy, warm brownie—exactly what you want on a cold evening.
Dark chocolate
This is what brings in the bold, intense flavour that makes the brownie taste like it came straight out of a bakery. It melts beautifully into the butter, creating a glossy mixture that makes the brownie dense, deep and full of real chocolate taste rather than just sweetness.
Yogurt
The secret to keeping this brownie soft, moist and perfectly tender without using eggs. It adds a gentle creaminess to the batter and ensures that the final texture is fudgy in the centre and never dry—ideal for a winter dessert that feels comforting and warm.
Sugar
Just the right amount to balance out the dark chocolate and cocoa. It doesn’t make the brownie overly sweet but brings harmony to all the bitter notes, giving you the perfect flavour in every bite.
Flour
This gives structure to the brownie while still keeping it delicate. It prevents the batter from turning too dense, helping the brownie stay soft yet stable enough to hold that molten, gooey centre that makes mug brownies so satisfying.
Cocoa powder
It intensifies the chocolate flavour even more, adding depth, warmth and that classic brownie richness. It also gives the dessert its beautiful dark colour that looks extra cosy and inviting in the winter.
Baking powder
A small but important addition that makes sure the brownie rises just slightly, giving it a light lift. It keeps the texture from becoming too heavy, allowing that perfect balance between cakey and fudgy.

A spatula and a whisk help to bring in the batter together.
A microwave safe mug to cook the brownie in.

TIPS TO MAKE EGGLESS MUG BROWNIE
- Use good-quality dark chocolate- Better the chocolate, richer the brownie. Since there’s no egg, the chocolate becomes the main source of structure and flavour.
- Melt butter + chocolate slowly-Microwave in 20–30 second bursts only. Overheating can split the chocolate, making your brownie oily. Smooth melted chocolate gives a fudgier texture.
- Always whisk yogurt properly before adding .Yogurt replaces egg, so it needs to be smooth. Lightly whisking it separately ensures the batter stays soft and moist.
- Mix the dry ingredients only till combined. Overmixing will create a dense brownie. As soon as the flour disappears, stop whisking.
- Use a microwave-safe wider mug. A slightly wide mug helps the brownie rise evenly and not overflow. Narrow mugs cause uneven cooking.
- Fill the mug only halfway. The batter rises a lot because of baking powder. Keeping space prevents spillage.
- Add chocolate callets on top at the end. They melt into puddles without sinking. If you want extra gooeyness, push a few inside the batter too.
- Let it rest for 1–2 minutes. The brownie continues cooking with residual heat. Resting makes the texture fudgier and not cakey.
