INGREDIENTS USED IN MAKING OREO DUMP CAKE IN MICROWAVE
OREOS
Oreo biscuits are the star ingredient of this recipe! Since they already contain flour, sugar, fat, and cocoa powder, they eliminate the need for additional ingredients like butter, sugar, or chocolate powder. When crushed and mixed with milk, they create a perfect batter that results in a soft yet slightly dense cake with a rich chocolaty flavor. Oreos add a deep chocolate taste and their cream filling adds a slight sweetness and richness.
MILK
Milk is what brings the crushed Oreos together and forms a smooth, lump-free batter. It helps blend the dry ingredients while also contributing to the cake’s moist texture. Without milk, the batter would be too thick and dry. Milk helps dissolve the Oreos into a smooth mixture. It ensures a soft, tender cake instead of a dry one. It balances the richness of the chocolate by adding mild creaminess. I use this Nestle toned milk for all my recipes.
BAKING POWDER
Since Oreos don’t naturally contain any raising agents, we add Baking powder to give the cake some lightness and fluffiness. Baking powder releases air when exposed to heat, helping the cake rise slightly and preventing it from becoming overly dense. It helps the cake rise and prevents a hard, dense texture. Even in the microwave, it works fast to create a light structure.
MILK AND DARK CHOCOLATE CHIPS
What’s better than a chocolate cake? An even more chocolaty cake! The combination of milk and dark chocolate chips takes this Oreo dump cake to the next level. As the cake cooks, the chocolate chips melt into the batter, creating pockets of gooey chocolate in every bite. The dark chocolate adds a deep, intense cocoa flavor, while the milk chocolate keeps it creamy and sweet.

TIPS TO MAKE OREO DUMP CAKE IN MICROWAVE
- Use a blender or food processor for a fine powder, or crush them in a ziplock bag using a rolling pin. Make sure to include the cream filling, as it adds moisture and sweetness.
- The batter should be smooth and pourable, not too thick or too runny. If the batter feels dry, add a splash more milk to adjust the consistency.
- Since Oreos don’t contain any natural leavening, baking powder helps the cake rise and stay soft. Make sure your baking powder is fresh for the best results.
- Every microwave has a different power level, so start by cooking for 60-90 seconds and check. If the cake isn’t set in the center, microwave for 10-15 seconds at a time until done.
- Since this is a one-bowl recipe, make sure your bowl is microwave-safe. A ceramic or glass bowl works best, as plastic can overheat.
- Eat straight from the bowl for a fuss-free treat. Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or chocolate sauce for extra indulgence.
