OREO FILLED PANCAKES

Golden Oreos coated in a soft pancake batter and cooked until perfectly golden on the outside create this warm, fluffy shell with a creamy cookie center that somehow tastes even better than it sounds.  Some recipes feel fancy. Some feel nostalgic. And then there are recipes like these Oreo-filled pancakes that feel unapologetically fun from the very first bite.

What makes this recipe so addictive is the contrast in textures. The outside turns soft and pillowy like a pancake, while the Oreo inside stays slightly creamy and sweet, almost melting into the batter as it cooks. Every bite feels comforting, a little indulgent, and honestly the kind of thing you make when you’re craving dessert but also breakfast at the same time. It’s playful, messy in the best way possible, and surprisingly easy to put together with simple pantry ingredients.

This is also one of those recipes that instantly brings out excitement the moment it hits the pan. Watching the batter puff up around the cookie, flipping it over to reveal that golden colour, and then breaking into it while it’s still warm—it has the same joy as making fair-style treats at home, except with almost no effort. And because it uses Golden Oreos instead of classic chocolate ones, the flavour stays buttery, creamy, and light without becoming too rich.

Whether you serve them with chocolate sauce, maple syrup, ice cream, or just eat them straight off the pan, these Oreo-filled pancakes are the kind of treat that disappears faster than you expect. They’re comforting, a little over-the-top, and exactly the kind of recipe that reminds you food is supposed to be fun too.

INGREDIENTS USED IN MAKING OREO FILLED PANCAKES

  • Milk

Milk helps in creating a smooth batter and provides moisture to the pancakes. It also contributes to the texture, ensuring that the pancakes turn out soft and fluffy. If you’re using dairy milk, it adds a bit of creaminess, while plant-based alternatives like almond or oat milk can offer a slight nutty flavor. When you add vinegar to milk, the acidic vinegar reacts with the proteins in milk, causing it to curdle and thicken. The slightly thickened milk adds tenderness to the pancakes, making them softer and less dense. I have used Nestle toned milk.

  • Vinegar

Vinegar might seem unusual in a pancake recipe, but it plays a very important role here. When added to milk, it creates a quick homemade buttermilk by curdling the milk slightly. This acidity reacts with the baking soda later in the batter, helping the pancakes become lighter and fluffier. It also adds a subtle tang that balances the sweetness of the Oreos and icing sugar, preventing the pancakes from tasting overly sugary.

  • Milk Powder

Milk powder is one of the ingredients that quietly makes a huge difference. It adds extra richness and gives the pancakes a creamier flavour. It also helps create a softer texture and slightly enhances the golden colour when cooked. Because Golden Oreos already have a creamy vanilla flavour, the milk powder complements them beautifully and makes the batter taste fuller and more indulgent.

  • All purpose flour

Flour provides the structure of the pancake batter. It holds everything together and creates the outer coating around the Oreo. The amount used here is balanced carefully so the pancakes stay soft and fluffy while still being sturdy enough to wrap around the cookie without falling apart during cooking.

  • Baking soda

Baking soda is what helps give these pancakes their light and airy texture. Since it reacts with the acidity from the vinegar, it creates tiny air bubbles in the batter that puff up while cooking. This prevents the pancake coating from becoming heavy or doughy and gives it that soft, fluffy bite.

  • Icing sugar

Icing sugar sweetens the batter while also blending smoothly into it without leaving any graininess. Because it dissolves quickly, it helps create a silky batter texture. The sweetness is kept balanced here since the Oreos themselves are already sweet, allowing the pancakes to taste indulgent without becoming overpowering.

  • Oreos

The Golden Oreos are the heart of the recipe. They bring sweetness, crunch, creaminess, and that familiar nostalgic flavour all at once. As they cook inside the pancake batter, the cream filling softens slightly and the cookies become tender, creating a warm, melt-in-the-middle texture. Using Golden Oreos instead of classic chocolate ones keeps the flavour buttery and vanilla-forward, making the pancakes taste lighter and more balanced overall.

EQUIPMENTS USED TO MAKE OREO FILLED PANCAKES

A a few kitchen staples that should always be there in the kitchen are mentioned below.

Measuring Cups and Measuring Spoons are the first thing that anybody who in cooking or baking needs. The right quantities will help in the desired outcome so these two things are a must.

A whisk is necessary to mix all the ingredients. A flat spatula helps flip the pancakes gently without breaking the soft batter coating.

I have used this non-stick pan to cook my pancakes.

TIPS TO MAKE OREO FILLED PANCAKES

  1. The batter should be thick enough to cling to the Oreo, but not so thick that it creates a doughy layer around it. If it feels overly heavy, add a tiny splash of milk to loosen it slightly.
  2. When dipping the Golden Oreos into the batter, make sure they’re fully coated from all sides. Using a fork helps lift them out neatly while letting excess batter drip away, preventing thick uncooked patches.
  3. High heat may brown the outside too quickly while leaving the inside raw. Cooking slowly allows the pancake layer to become fluffy and cooked through while warming the Oreo center perfectly.
  4. They’re delicious on their own, but adding chocolate sauce, caramel, maple syrup, whipped cream, or even a scoop of vanilla ice cream makes them feel even more indulgent.
