INGREDIENTS USED IN 3-INGREDIENT OREO CAKE IN A PAN
-
OREOS
The absolute structural and flavor backbone of the entire cake. Oreos are essentially pre-made bakery components in disguise. The crisp chocolate wafers replace traditional flour, cocoa powder, and starch, while the vanilla cream filling supplies the necessary fats, emulsifiers, and sugar. When finely ground and hydrated, they reconstitute into a perfectly balanced chocolate cake base without needing any extra butter or oil.
-
MILK
Milk serves as the vital activating solvent. Adding it warm instantly softens the starches and fats within the ground Oreo powder, melting the vanilla cream filling so it blends into a cohesive, velvety batter. Additionally, the natural liquid and dairy proteins hydrate the mixture to produce a lush, tender, and moist crumb rather than a dry texture.
-
BAKING POWDER
The chemical leavening hero. Because ground biscuits don’t contain active gluten networks or traditional egg structure to lift the batter, baking powder reacts when exposed to the warm milk and stovetop heat. It releases carbon dioxide bubbles throughout the dense chocolate base, giving the cake a light, airy, and fluffy rise.
EQUIPMENT USED FOR MAKING 3-INGREDIENT OREO CAKE IN A PAN
Not a single day goes in my kitchen when I don’t use a Silicon Spatula, this is the one I recommend. Same goes for my set of Measuring Cups and Measuring Spoons.
You also require an induction or stovetop to make this cake.

TIPS TO MAKE 3- INGREDIENT OREO CAKE IN A PAN
- Make sure your Oreos are ground into a fine, flour-like powder. Any leftover coarse chunks will absorb liquid unevenly and result in pockets of dense, gummy cake.
- Never place the cake pan directly over an open flame! Direct heat will scorch the bottom of the cake long before the center has a chance to bake through. The tawa acts as a gentle heat diffuser.
- Avoid lifting the lid during the first 20 minutes of baking. Trapping steam inside the covered pan is what creates the perfect moist oven environment on your stovetop.
- Ensure the cake has cooled down completely before pouring the chocolate ganache over it, otherwise the hot cake will absorb the ganache instead of holding a clean, beautiful layer on top.
